To all my Irish friends on St. Patrick’s Day, “A Poem to Ireland” via The Croatia-Ireland Society:
Emil Èiæ (Chitch):
Na hÉireann,
i gcogadh sa todhchaí,
nuair a bheidh muid ag troid ar son féin arís -
Beidh muid ag troid freisin Duitse.
Ar ár beaignití a scríobh:
‘saoirse cónaí Fada!,
díoltas, an ceartas,
agus fírinne ‘.
Beidh ár gach bullet beirt.
Agus ár céasadh Déanfar amhlaidh a fhaighimid
riamh gur féidir iad a sheoladh chugat.
Ár bratacha a ligean ar a cheann,
i ceartais, troid,
agus Críost!
Ireland,
in a future war,
when we will fight for ourselves again -
we will also fight for You.
On our bayonets will be written:
‘ Long live freedom!,
revenge, justice,
and truth’.
Our every bullet will be two.
And our tortures we shall receive so
that they never can be sent to you.
Our flags let’s be one,
in justice, fight,
and Christ!
Poema Irskoj
Irska,
u buduæem ratu,
kada æemo se boriti za sebe,
tada æemo se boriti i za Tebe.
Na našim æe bajunetama pisati:
‘živjela sloboda!,
osveta, pravda,
i istina’.
Svaki naš metak biti æe dva,
a naše æemo muèitelje primiti tako,
da ih niti za Tebe više ne bude.
Zastave naše,
u pravdi i borbi
neka budu jedno,
u Kristu!
