CBC News – World – Omar Khadr sentenced to symbolic 40 years

Well, eight years plus time served sounds much better than 40 years. Especially, after your own government fails to protect you as a citizen and breaches your legal rights under section 7 of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, you know, the one that says:

 7. Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of the person and the right not to be deprived thereof except in accordance with the principles of fundamental justice

Oh yeah, don’t forget that the U.S. military commission judge also admits into evidence your coerced confession. It’s all good. Nothing to see here. Move along: CBC News – World – Omar Khadr sentenced to symbolic 40 years
